The Truth Team

Last year Barnardo’s Advocacy Service (CAPs) asked 30 children aged 10 and above to complete a brief questionnaire

Young people were asked:

What answers they wish they had known before they came into care and what advice would be good for young people in care to know?

They had three important messages:
  1. SPEAK UP!- If you have any ideas or concerns, tell your Social Worker. Your voice matters.
  2. KNOW YOUR ADVOCATE- They are there to support and stand up for you.
  3. DON'T BOTTLE THINGS UP- Talk to people you trust when things feel overwhelming.
