MOCKINGBIRD

Mockingbird is the name for when a group of foster carers work together

Wakefield council are setting up two new foster care Mockingbird groups.  Find out more here

These groups are called constellations, because like the stars they all link together. At the centre is a Hub Carer a bit like a grandma or grandad. Children can enjoy spending time with the hub carer and have sleep-overs at their house.

Children, foster carers and the hub carer meet up every few weeks for activities, supported by Fostering Social Workers. It’s a great chance to build relationships with other children and work together like an extended family. Wakefield will have two Mockingbird Constellations and are recruiting a full time, Wakefield based, paid Mockingbird hub home carer.
