Cottam and Regent Homes are Wakefield’s first two bedded children’s homes based in Hemsworth and South Elmsall. Our homes look like all the other homes on the same street and is a small nurturing environment for you to enjoy and thrive. Everyone here wants to help you to achieve your best and provide a safe environment for you to thrive in. We understand that moving to a new place to live can sometimes be scary.

I started this job such a long time ago to be a positive influence to each and every young person and family that I spend time with. It may feel scary right now but we will be with you every step of the way. Here at Cottam Home and Regent Home we believe you should have everything you need to enjoy life. We promise to always listen to you and support you in every way we can.

My staff are very special and will support you throughout your journey making many happy memories along the way. Together we can achieve anything!!! The possibilities are endless.

I have worked with young people for such a long time because I believe you should get the very best support possible. My main priority is to make sure you feel safe, well cared for and make memories for the future. I enjoy building relationships and learning about young people including what’s most important to you, your favourite hobbies, meals and much more! We hope you will really like it here. Assistant Manager- Joanne Poundford

I do this job because I LOVE IT! Every day is a different day, I’m always really busy and never bored! I enjoy the challenges involved in helping young people realise how special they are, believe me they all are, some just struggle to see it right away! The biggest reason why I chose to work with and look after children and young people is so that I can try my best to make a difference to their lives and help them to realise their full potential. I want the young people who come to live with us, whether it be for a week or for 5 years, to feel that they are truly cared for, valued and most importantly to be HAPPY!
