CICC Juniors - Participation activities for 5-11 year olds

Make a Difference Group

Joining a group has lots of benefits for you such as giving you a chance to talk about what you would change about care services.

Its also a way to build your self-esteem and confidence and a great way to meet new people. You will have lots of fun going the activities too, our young people say:

  • Members of our own Wakefield Children in Care Council say that 'the best thing is that I share my ideas and people really listen to me'.
  • 'CICC is changing perceptions of looked after children and young people and actually listens to young people and acts upon what they say they are going to do'.
Here you can find all the dates for our groups if you would like to join us!

Why a Children in Care Council?
Children in care councils (known as CICC's) are an important opportunity for children and young people in care & care leavers to have their say about the care system and discuss any issues. The government asked that all Local Authorities set up CICC's, they all run quite differently, but the central idea is that they are run by young people that have experienced life in care. By sharing their experiences they can help social workers, managers and other professionals deliver services and make sure the lives of looked after children improve. The CICC helps to challenge negative perceptions of looked after children and champion's children's rights. Read more about Wakefield CICC
